The Bro Code

Some rules were made to be broken.

As a certified stand-up bro, Nick Maguire knows that some things in life are sacred: Do not skip ab workouts. Never back down from spicy foods. And always accept the outcome of Rock, Paper, Scissors. For these are the revered doctrines of The Bro Code, rules of conduct that have been passed down through the ages from bro to bro.

Heading into his senior year, Cassidy High’s star soccer player has his priorities straight and intends to spend his time playing sports, hanging out, and living by the code. But when his best bro Carter’s sister Eliza returns from studying overseas, the awkward, academic girl Nick remembers is different.

Carter might be Nick’s bro, but Eliza becomes his whole world―and choosing between them is unimaginable. Ultimately, Nick needs to decide if being with the girl of his dreams is worth breaking The Bro Code’s most important rule of all: never date your best bro’s sister . . . because he simply can’t have both.

My Thoughts!

Rating: 4 Stars

The Bro Code was such a light and fun read for me! It had great characters, a cute storyline and I loved how each chapter started by listing one of the rules from “the bro code.”

The story was filled with lots of funny and relatable moments and I loved Seibert’s use of many pop culture references such as “anything involving the strength of a raging fire (or the swiftness of a great typhoon, for that matter)” and referring to something as “Thanos-level-no-nonsense.”

I am a HUGE lover of all things Disney and Marvel so any time an author references either if those fandoms I am immediately happy and usually laugh out loud.

Aside from her incredible salutes to both Mulan and the Avengers, I really enjoyed Seibert’s style of writing! It was such a quick and easy read and I felt like all of the characters were very relatable. I loved the dynamics between each of the characters as well, and the relationships that she developed among them. And of course my favorite part of the story was the happy ending! I know some may thing certain book endings are cliché or sappy, but I happen to love all of the happy endings! My favorite books are the ones where the conflict gets resolved and everyone is happy.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I love to take time between fantasy books to read some sweet contemporary romances and this one certainly did not disappoint!
