Sometimes the most beautiful things grow in darkness.
Iris never expected to live her life trapped on land. Nor was she prepared for what she would find there. A siren isn't supposed to fall in love with her prey.
When Jace moved to Santa Cruz, he never imagined he'd risk his life to protect a monster. He soon finds that ancient myth has become reality. And not every pretty face is what it seems.
After Iris sings her siren's song to Jace — a hypnotic melody that leads men to death beneath the waves — both of their worlds are turned upside down. Will Iris give in to her bloodlust or will she turn her back on everything she's ever known?
As the tide runs red with the blood of the Harvest, Iris must choose: save the life of the human boy she loves or sacrifice her chance at humanity forever.

My Thoughts!
4.5 Stars
I feel like this book was written for me. It has two things that I love in a book, mystery, and romance AND it has surfing, sirens, and mythology which are three of my absolute favorite things!!!! I love anything having to do with mermaids or sirens and have always been very interested in the legends and lore behind sirens. There is something so darkly satisfying about a creature that uses its beauty and song to lure men into the sea to drown.
I am also a HUGE fan of surfing!!! I don’t know if the author has ever surfed before or just did an insane amount of research, but as someone who has surfed before (though not very well) she absolutely captured the thoughts and feelings that go through your mind when you’re out in the ocean. I was so impressed by her knowledge of surfing and her descriptions of the surf competitions that one of the main characters participated in.
I have also always been a huge fan of mythology (I took a mythology class in high school and had a 99% average…#NerdAlert lol) so I loved getting some of the siren mythology and background in this book!
Basically, this book had me majorly geeking out because it had everything I love in one book AND had great characters and a fantastic storyline! I love a book that really keeps you guessing and although you know that one of the main characters is a siren, this book keeps you on your toes and asking questions until the very end!
